We often get major storms after his arrival, but we know that Spring is on it’s way. We consider it a “ Promise of Spring”. | A Sign of Peace ~ 18 x 13Limited Ed: $150 Artist Proof: $200 “A Sign of Peace” was inspired by the Nemo Community Church in Nemo, South Dakota. One version of how the town of Nemo was named is that it is omen spelled backwards. Another word for omen is sign. | A Story in Stone ~ 14.5 x 11Limited Ed: $150 Artist Proof: $200 In 2004 Jay Torgerson, a Custer State Park employee, was killed while goose hunting. His mother Carol worked in the gallery for Jon and Gail. A memorial was set up for Jay to support projects in the park, and Jon painted “A Story In Stone” to help raise money for his memorial. Jon used the Norbeck Visitor Center for “A Story in Stone” because Jay had worked on its renovation. |

This particular frog pond was in Vermont. Jon and Gail often find these waiting for them as they return home from Baja. | Backroad to Betsy's ~ 11 x 14Limited Ed: $175 Artist Proof: Sold Out A wintery view of Rochford, South Dakota from the north. The Moonshine Gulch Saloon is visible in the distance. Jon painted this original as reward to Betsy (owner of the Moonshine) for quitting smoking for a year. The cabin featured here was his home for many years, a cabin of his own design and construction, commonly known as “The Badger Hole.” It is in Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota and is open to the public as a museum. |
